About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Must have 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience. Must be trained in LDRP. Must be able to triage and function as the baby catcher/transition nurse. Description: Hiring process involves an interview with the Clinical Team. Unit has 4 Labor and Delivery beds and 1 surgical suite for C-sections. There are 2 triage beds and 3 postpartum beds. Expect 0-2 births per day, approximately 200 per year. AWHONN guidelines for ratios are followed as much as possible in this rural hospital. Common patient diagnoses include pregnant women, newborns, and gynecological surgical patients. RNs are required to titrate drips, specifically Pitocin. Charge nurse takes one of the two nurse assignments on shift. No nursing aids or surgical techs are present on the unit. Obstetricians are not in-house; they have a 20-minute response time when on-call after hours. Anesthesia is present during regular business hours and on-call after hours, with a 20-minute response time. Respiratory Therapy is not always available on site; pediatric on-call can cover deliveries. Self-scheduling is allowed with some limitations based on unit needs. RNs are expected to work half of all weekends and holidays. There is no call or standby requirement and floating to other units is rare. Scrubs are not provided, and there is no specific color requirement. The charting system used is EPIC. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
