Business & Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Business & Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join a leading global law firm. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience handling business and commercial litigation matters, including experience in California state courts. Federal court clerkship experience is a plus.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of business and commercial litigation experience.

• California state court experience required.

• California Bar admission required.

• Direct and applicable AmLaw 100 firm experience preferred.

• Federal court clerkship experience is a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and support complex business and commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.

• Develop case strategies, analyze factual and legal issues, and assess litigation risks and opportunities.

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis.

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, memoranda, correspondence, and other litigation-related documents.

• Conduct and defend depositions, witness interviews, and fact investigations, as appropriate based on experience.

• Prepare witnesses, experts, and clients for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.

• Participate in court appearances, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and settlement negotiations.

• Manage discovery, including document review, production, privilege analysis, and e-discovery.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive, practical, and high-quality legal services.

• Collaborate with attorneys, clients, experts, opposing counsel, and business professionals to advance litigation strategy.

• Monitor developments in applicable laws, judicial decisions, and procedural rules.

• Participate in professional development, firm initiatives, pro bono work, and community engagement.

Compensation: $225,000-$390,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.

This is a hybrid position combining remote and in-office work.
