Mortgage Underwriter

GNB Mortgage is looking for an experienced, solutions-focused Mortgage Underwriter with active VA LAPP/SAR and FHA DE certifications to join our high-performing team. If you enjoy tackling complex lending scenarios and working across a broad mix of Conventional, Jumbo, FHA, VA, USDA, VHDA, and Non-QM products, this is the opportunity for you. What You'll Do Underwrite residential mortgage loans in compliance with investor, agency, regulatory, and company guidelines. Review income, assets, credit, collateral, and overall loan risk to make sound lending decisions. Apply expertise across: Conventional Jumbo FHA

VA (LAPP/SAR)

USDA VHDA Non-QM products Issue accurate approvals, conditions, suspensions, and denials. Collaborate closely with Sales team to structure loans and resolve underwriting challenges. Maintain productivity and quality standards while delivering outstanding customer service. Stay current on agency, investor, regulatory, and underwriting guideline updates. Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience. Active FHA DE certification. Experience underwriting Jumbo loans. Strong knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and VHDA guidelines. Experience evaluating complex income scenarios, self-employed borrowers, multiple properties, and layered risk files. Excellent decision-making, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience underwriting Non-QM products. Experience working with Encompass or similar LOS platforms. Strong understanding of FNMA, FHLMC, government, and investor-specific underwriting requirements. Why Join GNB Mortgage?
