Veterinary Technician Emergency

Certified Veterinary Technician

Credentialed Veterinary Technicians don't come along every day and we know it.

VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists is looking for a compassionate, experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to join an ER/ICU team that values your skills, respects your expertise, and gives you the tools to actually use them. This is a hands-on role where your skills and experience will be put to real use patient care, treatment support, anesthesia, surgery assisting, and everything in between.

Emergency medicine this is when the most critical, high-acuity cases come through the door, giving you hands-on experience you simply can't get anywhere else. If you thrive under pressure and want to fast-track your growth as a technician, specialty hospitals are where the real learning happens.

Compensation: $23.00 - $32.00 / hr based on skill set, experience and licensure status.

Schedule: Full-time, weekend shifts required.

What You'll Do Whether you're a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) or a technician in training, we want you using every skill you've worked hard to build:

• Triage incoming emergency patients, quickly assessing severity and prioritizing care in high-acuity, fast-moving situations
• Monitors critical patients continuously overnight, providing scheduled treatments, tracking vitals and recognizing early signs of deterioration
• Places IV catheters, draws blood, and manages fluid therapy and CRIs for critically ill patients
• Assists with stabilization and emergency procedures, including CPR, oxygen therapy, and wound management for trauma and critical cases
• Administers medications accurately per veterinarian orders, including emergency drugs and controlled substances, with careful documentation
• Performs and assists with diagnostics overnight radiographs, blood work, and point-of-care testing to support rapid clinical decision-making
• Manages recumbent and hospitalized ICU patients, including turning, padding, bladder management, and nutritional support
• Maintains composure and sound clinical judgment under pressure, often with a smaller overnight team and greater independence
• Communicates clearly and efficiently with the overnight veterinarian and team, providing timely updates on rapidly evolving cases
• Maintains accurate, detailed medical records under time constraints, ensuring seamless handoff to the day team

As a CVT at VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists, you'll work in a fast-paced, 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in West Palm Beach, FL, gaining hands-on experience across emergency/critical care, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology and surgery. Our AAHA-accredited hospital was established in 2002 and has built a reputation for excellence, high-quality patient care, and a collaborative, team-based approach to medicine.

You'll work alongside board-certified specialists and a dedicated emergency team, tackling complex and high-acuity cases using state-of-the-art technology in a hospital that values communication and teamwork as much as clinical skill. It's an environment built for CVTs who want to keep learning, stay challenged, and grow their technical skills in emergency and specialty medicine.

We're looking for someone positive, motivated, and ready to bring ideas to the table our team meets frequently, and your input genuinely shapes how we grow. We protect our culture fiercely, and that means hiring people with the determination to rise above obstacles, wear multiple hats, and show up for their team.
