Job Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care is seeking a Patient care Tech in the Medical Services, Transmagnetic Stimulation Services - Brief Treatment, Edison. The Patient care Tech will administer, monitor, and schedule Transmagnetic Stimulation (TMS) services, provide support for individuals served throughout treatment, and ensure equipment safety and functionality. Position status: Full Time. Responsibilities Under strict physician supervision, administers TMS services in accordance with established policies and procedures. Conduct pre-treatment assessments to verify TMS therapy eligibility. Demonstrate competency in procedures within scope of practice. Explain TMS to individuals served and respond to inquiries related to the procedure. Monitor individuals served throughout sessions to ensure their safety and comfort. Qualifications High school diploma required plus two (02) years of relevant experience in a health care setting. Prior completion of a TMS training program or completion of a UBHC-sponsored onsite TMS training program within 30 days of hire required. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Have excellent interpersonal skills, compassion and empathy for others, comfort working with and providing support for different patient presentations, fast learner and an ability to think critically. Preferred Qualifications An associate degree in a health care or related field preferred. Previous experience in electromagnetic brain stimulation preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing. Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. May be exposed to agitated patients. Physical dexterity to position TMS equipment. Can expect to lift up to 25 lbs. Moderate noise. Subject to unpredictable situations and both medical and psychiatric crises. Possible exposure to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens that require use of personal protective equipment.
