Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor, Hospital Medicine Program AY 2027-28, General Internal Medicine

The Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for up to eight full-time clinical faculty positions at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to support the department's commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a twelve-month full-time basis for an annual term beginning July 1, 2027; specific start date is negotiable.

Full-time clinical faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (JulyJune), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The successful candidate will be expected to serve as an attending physician in the Hospital Medicine Program at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center (Montlake and Northwest Campuses), or VA Puget Sound Health Care System. They will also be expected to teach residents and medical students.

Salary: The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $14,334 - $20,878 per month ($172,008 - $250,536 annually), Associate Professor range: $19,391 - $23,063 per month ($232,692 - $276,756 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. For VAPSHCS: This position is paid directly by the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to VAPSHCS for information about compensation for this position.

Other Compensation: Other compensation associated with this position will include a pay supplement (CCO) for work on the hospital medicine service. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan.

Qualifications: Applicants for these full-time clinical faculty positions must meet the following minimum qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License. *Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship. University sponsorship is not possible for a J-1 visa or employer based permanent residence sponsorship in the clinical faculty track. For VAPSHCS applicants: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
