Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse for a night shift position. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in providing high-quality care for neonates in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to neonates, including stabilization at deliveries.
• Monitor and assess patients in the NICU, developing and implementing individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as per protocols.
• Educate and support families regarding their newborn's care and conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level II or higher NICU.
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP, and STABLE certification.
• Charge nurse experience and couplet care experience preferred.
• Proficient in breastfeeding techniques and education.
• Ability to work autonomously and make critical decisions in a high-stress environment.
• Experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is a plus.

Unit Information

• Level II NICU with 8 beds, average census of 2-3 patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2:3, always with at least 2 nurses on duty.
• Patients typically include those born at 31 weeks and older, along with conditions such as hyperbilirubinemia and hypoglycemia.
• Neonatologist available 24/7.
• Advanced respiratory care experience is beneficial, though intubated patients are rarely admitted.

Work Environment

• Shifts are 12 hours in length, requiring availability for weekend and holiday rotations.
• Must be prepared to float to couplet care when needed.
• Provision of scrubs and compliance with the facility's dress code is required.
• Experienced nurses are encouraged to apply, as the unit includes newer staff members.
