ICU Travel Nurse Opportunity

Facility: 353 Fairmont Blvd., Rapid City, SD Level II Trauma Center Level III NICU Level II Pediatric Trauma On the Journey to Magnet Status Designation Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center Teaching Hospital 417 Beds General Information Beds: 39 MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU mixed unit Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? 2+ years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment Traveler must reside > 100 miles outside of facility Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Patient Types: Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma heavy trauma population Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this given to permanent staff Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 (rare) acuity dependent Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS TNCC (strongly preferred) Skills required Experience with the above-mentioned patients Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients. Impella, IABP and CRRT strongly preferred Support on the Unit: CNA: 1-2 Nurse Aides per unit + mobility float aide Charge nurse: 2 CRNs oversee all ICUs Phlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws only IV/VAT Team? ICU CRNs place all midlines Resource Nurse: Yes, staffing dependent RT: Yes, 24/7 Physicians: 3 Intensivists on days, 2 on nights + APP on nights Charting System: Epic - required Alaris Omnicell Floating: If yes, where? Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio. Confirm traveler comfortability during interview Orientation: (facility and unit) Hospital orientation (1) 12 hour shift and (1) 8 hour shift in the ICU Scheduling: Weekend rotation: Every other Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No Holiday Expectations: No RTO during holidays Approval of time off? Up to 7 days must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract.
