About the Program Established Hospital Medicine program with 60+ Hospitalists, dedicated nocturnists, and Advanced Practice Providers Devoted Lead Hospitalists that provide front-line, day-to-day operational support and provide real-time provision to the care team and ancillary services Dedicated Assistant Medical Director that supports quality, safety, utilization review, and provider education based on evidence based clinical practice Nurse Supervisor available to help prioritize clinical workflow Closed ICU model with strong interdisciplinary collaboration Dyad leadership structure that promotes strategic alignment and shared accountability Robust operational and analytics support infrastructure Leadership team committed to physician engagement, mentorship, and long-term development The Opportunity In this role, you will: Help shape the strategic vision and future direction of Adult Hospital Medicine Influence quality, safety, operational performance, and patient experience initiatives Mentor and develop physician leaders while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration Partner with clinical and operational leaders to drive innovation and system-wide improvement Support physician engagement, change management, and leadership development across the department Serve as a key voice in advancing interdisciplinary teamwork and care delivery excellence Have the opportunity to teach residents through our accredited Internal Medicine residency program in addition to medical students with faculty appointment through the Carle Illinois College of Medicine This position offers a balanced leadership structure with protected administrative time, allowing leaders to remain clinically connected while focusing on broader organizational impact and strategy Ideal candidates will demonstrate: A passion for leadership, mentorship, and team development Strength in change management and strategic execution The ability to build alignment across multidisciplinary teams A patient-centered mindset focused on innovation and continuous improvement A commitment to advancing both people and processes Qualifications MD or DO required Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Eligible for Illinois medical licensure Leadership experience preferred Advanced leadership training (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) welcomed What You’ll Gain A highly visible leadership role within a growing and innovative health system The opportunity to directly influence the future of inpatient medicine Strong executive and operational partnership support Dedicated mentorship and leadership development opportunities A mission-driven culture focused on excellence, collaboration, and compassion Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $345,000 - $527,000. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
