Retail Cashier Since 1926, Pete's ACE Hardware has been a fixture in Castro Valley, offering the very best in helpful advice and friendly service to their many customers. Founded by Peter Selmeczki, a Hungarian immigrant, Pete's ACE Hardware has been in the same location on the boulevard since the day it opened. We are seeking outgoing, friendly, and helpful team members to welcome and assist customers. Previous hardware experience is a plus but not a requirement as we provide training. Position Summary The primary responsibilities of the Cashier position are to maintain helpful customer service, process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently, and cash register operations. The major responsibilities for this position include: Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers Actively participate in daily huddle meetings Answer customers' questions and provide information on products, procedures, and policies Answer phone calls Assist in the training and development of peers Conscious of shoplifting activity Ensure each customer receives outstanding service that follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management Greet customers as they enter the store Issuing receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked Responsive of safety issues Sign and merchandise products in the store as necessary Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card Stock merchandise as necessary Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards. Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business. The minimum requirements for this position include the following: A commitment to service, excellence, and customer satisfaction Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business Ability to communicate with associates and customers Ability to process information and/or merchandise through point of sale system Able to operate a computer Exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn The minimum physical requirements for this position include: Ability to climb a ladder Ability to stand for an extended period (6-8 hours). Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth. Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
