Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding and impactful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in the greater New Orleans area for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position starts in early August and continues through the end of May, offering the opportunity to make a difference every day. As a valued educational professional, you’ll work approximately 35 hours per week, with assignments determined by the district. You’ll collaborate with school staff, engage families, and provide individualized support tailored to student needs within a dynamic school community.

Ideal candidates bring passion, patience, and the ability to adapt instruction for learners with diverse needs. Your expertise will help shape positive outcomes for students across grades and abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education certificate with a SPED endorsement (required)
  • Experience in special education within school settings preferred
  • Thorough understanding of IEPs, differentiation, and data-driven instruction
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Availability to complete pre-employment drug screening and fingerprinting for district credentialing
  • Ready-to-go licensure; not accepting educator candidates currently in the licensing process

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Support district initiatives and policies
