Position: Varsity Tennis Assistant Coach (Fall Season) Reports to: Associate Director of Athletics FLSA: Exempt part‑time Salary Range: $5,250-$6,000/season Season Dates: August 20 - October 28, 2026 (Aligned with Upper School preseason and AAIS league schedule). Schedule: August 20, 21, 24-28: 9am-3pm; August 31 - October 28: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday; times vary 3:00pm-6:30pm depending on match and court availability. Summary The Varsity Tennis Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in the leadership, development, and daily operations of the Convent of the Sacred Heart varsity tennis program. This includes providing high‑level skill instruction, contributing to the athletic and personal growth of student‑athletes, and helping to cultivate a positive, inclusive, and team‑oriented culture. Responsibilities Demonstrate high‑level instruction in tennis skills and strategy, providing effective, engaging practice sessions. Support and help reinforce a strong, positive team culture aligned with the values and philosophy of the CSH athletic program. Strive for competitive excellence through consistent preparation, player development, and sportsmanship. Demonstrate genuine care for the holistic development of student‑athletes—social, emotional, academic, ethical, and athletic—with an unwavering commitment to their health, safety, and well‑being. Collaborate closely with the Head Coach and Associate Director of Athletics to advance program goals and foster team success. Model leadership, professionalism, and integrity in all interactions with student‑athletes, families, colleagues, and school administrators. Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and adhere to all rules, policies, and guidelines set by the school, league, and athletic department. Other responsibilities Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, match logistics, and communication with families, as needed and assigned by the Head Coach. Maintain professional, collaborative relationships with colleagues, both within and beyond the athletics department. Engage in ongoing professional development and demonstrate a commitment to personal growth as a coach and educator. Support the Head Coach with additional duties necessary for the success of the team and overall athletics program, even if not explicitly outlined above. Qualifications / Skills Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous high school or collegiate coaching experience preferred; high school playing experience required, collegiate playing experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with student‑athletes, families, and school administrators. A record of integrity, reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season). Availability for practices, matches, and team events, including weekday evenings (3 - 6:30pm) as the schedule requires.
