Senior Counsel - Marketing

This career site is for external applicants only.The Senior Counsel will provide legal support to the Company’s Marketing and Midstream teams. This role will focus on a wide range of commercial agreements, including gas gathering, processing, and purchase agreements, as well as crude oil, condensate, transportation, and related midstream contracts. In addition to day-to-day legal support, this position will advise on broader commercial and transactional matters, including potential midstream joint ventures, royalty payment issues, and oil and gas M&A transactions involving marketing arrangements and midstream assets. Title and level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.Job Responsibilities:Including but not limited toProvide legal support to the Marketing team on marketing and midstream operationsDraft, review, and negotiate agreements related to the purchase, sale, and exchange of crude oil, natural gas, and condensateSupport a wide range of commercial agreements, including:Gas gathering, processing, and purchase agreementsCrude oil and condensate purchase agreementsTransportation and buy/sell agreementsConstruction, dedication, and connection agreementsGas lift agreements and spot contractsAdvise business units on transactional and commercial matters across marketing, midstream, and operationsProvide legal guidance on midstream joint ventures, royalty matters, and oil and gas M&A transactionsDeliver timely, practical legal counsel while balancing business objectives and riskRequired Qualifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentialsActive admission to a state bar, with ability to practice in-house in TexasSeven (7+) years of legal experience; prior in-house experience preferredStrong background in marketing and midstream oil & gas legal work, including drafting and negotiating complex agreementsExperience advising on term and spot contracts and providing commercial legal guidance to oil & gas clientsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong business acumen and ability to support infrastructure development and operations-related legal mattersExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical capabilities and attention to detailRelocation:Relocation assistance is available for this position.Work Authorization:Diamondback Energy does not currently sponsor employment visas for this position.Diamondback is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
