Public Safety Officer

Public Safety OfficerWe are seeking a Public Safety Officer, sometimes referred to as a Hospital Security Officer or Healthcare Security Officer. The Public Safety Officer will perform a range of security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols to ensure the safety of the facility. The Public Safety Officer will coordinate responses to incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures fairly and consistently. The Public Safety Officer will collaborate with the Environment of Care Committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to safety and security at our hospital.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):Access Control and Patrols: monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, violence, or unsafe behaviorEmergency Response: respond to emergency codes and assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment as neededDe-escalation and Conflict Management: intervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated patients or visitors, often in collaboration with clinical staffPatient and Visitor Assistance: escort patients or visitors safely through the facility, provide directions, and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issuesIncident Documentation: write detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report findings to supervisors or risk managementQualificationsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentState Guard Certification Registration Card within 6 months of hire and maintain currentState Driver's license upon hireCurrent DMV H6 reportExperience in healthcare security or related experience, preferredEmployment StatusPer DiemShiftDaysEqual Employment OpportunityCompany is an equal employment opportunity employer.
