Mobile Diesel Technician

Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs on diesel trucks or equipment. Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts. Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer. Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended. Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Document all work performed and recommendations on the repair order. Road test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician. Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events. Stay informed of manufacturer technical bulletins. Supervise work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned. Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor. Ensure customers' vehicles are kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to appearance or condition. Keep shop area neat and clean for safety. Maintain and account for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them in the same condition as received. Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know). Operate tools and equipment safely and report safety issues immediately to management. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years heavy truck experience preferred Valid Driver's License (required) Ability to meet insurability requirements Safety shoes are required on day one of employment.
