Work Environment\n

This position supports a remote work setting while also engaging with clients in our outpatient office as required. The work schedule will typically be Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, allowing for consistent hours that support personal and professional lives.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents to identify specific care needs and develop individualized treatment plans.

• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions that address emotional challenges related to aging and significant life transitions, ensuring a personalized approach to therapy.

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including doctors, social workers, and nursing staff, to devise and implement comprehensive care strategies for geriatric residents.

• Instruct and educate both staff and families about effective strategies to promote emotional well-being and improve overall quality of life for elderly individuals.

• Offer grief and loss counseling services for clients and their families facing end-of-life issues, using evidence-based therapeutic modalities to support them through these difficult times.

• Implement cognitive stimulation programs that enhance mental acuity, helping elderly individuals maintain cognitive health through various therapeutic interventions.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role primarily focuses on elderly individuals who may be experiencing a range of mental health challenges, including but not limited to grief, anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders. Our clients often deal with complex emotional issues related to life transitions, chronic health conditions, and the stress of aging. Your expertise in geriatric mental health will be pivotal in tailoring interventions that meet their unique needs.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.

• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in New York State.

Compensation and Benefits\n
