Garden Center Sales Associate

As a sales associate you will be the face of our company You get to highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. Must be capable of learning about what we sell and are able to articulate our purpose in a manner that is educational insightful and professional. CUSTOMER SERVICE: <\/span>

• Proactively engage and make a connection with customers. <\/span>

• Asking questions and listening to customers needs. <\/span>
  <\/span><\/span><\/li>
• Directing customers to merchandise informing them about upcoming events promotions mobile offers. <\/span>
  <\/span><\/span><\/li>
• Provide premier customer service. <\/span>
  <\/span><\/span><\/li>
• Cooperate and build positive inclusive and respectful relationships take accountability for your own actions and outcomes. <\/span>

  SALES: <\/span>
  <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>

  • Cross -selling products and knowing layout of the store. <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Make suggestions to customer on latest trends and current promotions based on customers individual needs. <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Up -selling products. <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Learning product features keeping up with the latest trends leveraging company tools and technology to confidently provide the customer with product knowledge specs. <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Using a Point -of -Sales system processing cash exchanges discounts gift cards credit cards debit cards cash handling including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customer. <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Completing various forms of paperwork reports and reconciliation <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    INVENTORY: <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>

    • Be the keeper of merchandise complete all inventory processes and make sure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed. <\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • May participate in periodic inventories <\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>

          Requirements <\/h3>

          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>
          <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>

          • Retail experience preferred but not required <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Basic all -around knowledge of gardening; including soils, amendments, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, tools, etc <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Basic computer knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Ability to read write and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Ability to effectively communicate with customers peers and management. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Basic math functions such as addition subtraction multiplication and division. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Ability to multitask while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision. <\/span>
            <\/span><\/span><\/li>
          • Enthusiastic friendly and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service. <\/span>

          • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions <\/span><\/span>
