Front Desk Receptionist - Dental

Front Desk ReceptionistUnder the general supervision of the Dental Office Supervisor, the Front Desk Receptionist manages the arrival and departure of patients seeking services at the Dental Department. The responsibilities of the Front Desk Receptionist include answering the telephones, checking patients in and out of the clinic, registering new patients as well as updating existent patient information in the appropriate practice management software system, printing encounter forms, booking appointments, cash reconciliation, and other duties as assigned.Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:Receives and directs incoming patientsRegisters new patients into the system accurately and in a timely fashionReviews and updates existing patient information related to demographics and insuranceFollows established health center protocol for the check-in, encounter form production, and check-outAssists walk-in patients with obtaining appointments and/or picking up prescriptions or completed formsAnswer multi-line phones, directing calls as appropriate and taking accurate messages, distributing to appropriate provider of staff person.Places reminder calls to patients with upcoming appointmentsFollows established health center protocol for daily cash reconciliationSchedules walk-in appointments and in collaboration with appropriate clinical staffSchedules patient appointments according to established protocolCopies dental records as requested by patients, insurance companies, and other outside sourcesDemonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center missionDemonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and StandardsPerforms other job related duties as required or assignedMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required, Associate Degree in secretarial science or equivalent preferredBilingual in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.1 year similar work experience dental or medical office environment preferredComputer skills for accurate data entryKnowledge of basic medical terminology preferredDemonstrated interpersonal relationship skillsDemonstrated proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in EnglishDemonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high telephone call volume office environmentCompetencies: Individual departments may develop competencies which will be communicated and maintained through CHC's performance evaluation system.Supervision Exercised: NoneEnvironmental Working Conditions: Normal medical office environment of a busy Community Health CenterPhysical Requirements: The physical and mental demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
