Our organization is in search of a distinguished and innovative physician-leader to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine within the Neurology Department. This position reports directly to the Chair of Neurology and entails providing strategic, clinical, research, and administrative guidance to enhance a nationally recognized neuromuscular program.
This role presents a unique chance to develop and expand a multidisciplinary program that merges cutting-edge research, outstanding clinical care, and pioneering education within a leading academic medical center.
Appointment as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at the affiliated medical school will be based on experience, training, and accomplishments, along with teaching responsibilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & ExcellenceOversee and improve the provision of high-quality, patient-focused neuromuscular care in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
Broaden clinical programs in areas such as ALS, muscular dystrophies, peripheral neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, and EMG services.
Encourage best practices, quality enhancement, and patient safety initiatives.
Lead and expand a comprehensive neuromuscular research portfolio, which includes clinical trials, translational research, and collaborative projects.
Recruit, mentor, and assist faculty in enhancing research output and academic progression.
Develop partnerships across our organization, affiliated institutions, and industry collaborators.
Manage the operational aspects of the division, including budgeting, staffing, and program development.
Create and implement a strategic vision that aligns with departmental and institutional goals.
Work closely with departmental leadership and hospital administration.
Facilitate the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.
Enhance and expand neuromuscular fellowship programs.
Act as a mentor and role model for faculty and trainees.
Establish strong interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments (e.g., rehabilitation, pulmonology, genetics, pathology).
Identify opportunities for expanding clinical and research initiatives.
Participate in regional and national neuromuscular networks and initiatives.
MD or MD/PhD with board certification in Neurology and specialized training in Neuromuscular Medicine.
Eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
Proven track record of clinical excellence and academic success.
Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical setting or similar environment.
Strong history in research, including peer-reviewed funding and publications.
Effective administrative and organizational capabilities.
Dedication to collaboration, mentorship, and program development.
Visionary leadership with the capacity to grow and innovate a neuromuscular program.
Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex clinical operations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in fostering partnerships across institutions and disciplines.
