About this unit PCU is a high-energy unit that promotes a positive culture and work environment with flexible scheduling; we strive to maintain a competitive nurse-to-patient ratio. Nurses are teamwork-oriented with support staff including nursing assistants, telemetry technicians and unit secretaries. We care for a diverse patient population including respiratory, cardiac and neuro illnesses. Common patients are on cardiac drips, cardiac catheterization patients and COPD/pneumonia/CHF patients. PCU staff meet once a month for unit council to address staff concerns and plan activities. It has served the community since 1957 and has long-standing partnerships with Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Shift & Schedule Part time night shift, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. (weekend rotation). Weekly scheduled hours: 24. Scope of Work Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps maintain the environmental upkeep of the unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Provides personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment to facilitate patient care. Contributes to effective communication related to patient care and efficient operation of the unit. Facilitates admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off the unit in accordance with established policies and procedures. Pay Range Hourly pay range: $17.74 – $21.72, based on experience. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS). Completion of orientation. Previous hospital or nursing home experience (preferred). Current CNA certification (preferred).
