Industrial ElectricianInstall, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including motor controls, power distribution panels, transformers, and switchgear.Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production equipment, including PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, and control circuits, to minimize downtime.Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals to guide installation, troubleshooting, and repair work.Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment according to PDL's maintenance schedule.Install and maintain conduit, wiring, and electrical distribution systems in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable regulations.Troubleshoot and adjust PLCs and automated control systems as needed, coordinating with controls specialists or OEM support on complex programming.Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergency calls to minimize production downtime.Maintain accurate electrical maintenance records, including work orders, parts used, and equipment history.Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager and production supervisors to schedule electrical work with minimal disruption to production.Follow all lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures, including arc flash safety (NFPA 70E), when servicing equipment.Independently cover the electrical needs of an assigned shift without requiring direct supervision or backup.Mentor and provide guidance to maintenance technicians and electricians in training as needed.Perform other electrical and maintenance duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid electrician certification or license, and minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in a sawmill, lumber, or heavy manufacturing environment.Preferred qualifications include journeyman or master electrician license, experience with sawmill-specific equipment and control systems, PLC programming experience, and experience with medium-voltage industrial electrical systems.This position is performed primarily in mill and maintenance shop environments, with regular exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and moving machinery, as well as energized electrical equipment. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, work at heights, and work in confined spaces as needed. Regularly required to stand, kneel, bend, crawl, and use hand and power tools for extended periods. Required personal protective equipment, including arc-flash rated PPE where applicable, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots, must be worn at all times in production and maintenance areas. This role may require responding to emergency electrical repairs outside of normal working hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.Diagnoses and repairs electrical issues efficiently to minimize unplanned downtime.Completes preventive maintenance tasks on schedule and in accordance with PDL's maintenance program.Follows lockout/tagout and arc flash safety procedures without exception.Responds promptly to electrical breakdown and emergency repair calls, prioritizing safety and production impact.Maintains accurate, complete electrical maintenance records and work order documentation.Communicates proactively with the Maintenance Manager and production supervisors on equipment status, parts needs, and scheduling conflicts.Reliably covers the full electrical scope of an assigned shift independently, without requiring supervision or backup.Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.Maintains regular, dependable attendance and availability for on-call emergency repairs.Plain Dealing Lumber is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
