Sports Medicine / Part-Time

Provide AT services to local high school and others, including prevention programs and coverage of athletic events, as indicated. Assist with Pre-participation Exams, as needed. Assist with Sports Performance Enhancement, as needed. Teaches athletes proper principles of exercise and proper use of exercise equipment.

Education and Credentials Required:

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Health Education, Exercise Science, or Sports Medicine. BOC certified. Licensed by North Carolina Board of Athletic Training Examiners within six months of employment date. Criminal record and background check must be completed prior to employment. The athletic trainer must have no record of felony conviction, registration as a sex offender, conviction of a non-driving misdemeanor within the last three years or have accumulated more than six points on his/her current driving record, as determined by the state issuing the points. Upon employment and annually thereafter, the athletic trainer must complete a check on the N.C. Sex Offender and Public Protection Registration Program, the N.C. Sexually Violent Predator Registration Program, and the National Sex Offender Registry with results reported to the Superintendent of the Catawba County Board of Education.

BCLS for healthcare providers or completion of BCLS from the American Heart Association within one month of employment date.

Preferred:

Master's degree in Sports Medicine from an accredited program. BCLS, FA, AED instructor certified.
