POSITION DETAILS

The Center for Inclusivity and Equal Opportunity (“CIEO” or “Center”) was established by the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor for the City University of New York (“CUNY” or the “University”) in June 2024, as part of CUNY’s ongoing efforts to combat discrimination and harassment, and CUNY’s ongoing efforts to continuously foster understanding amongst our diverse community members. The Center is responsible for: systemwide report management and compliance pertaining to discrimination and harassment, policy review, development, and implementation of all CUNY policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, regular and comprehensive training and orientation for administrators implementing CUNY’s policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, systemwide educational programming addressing discrimination and harassment, and monitoring and analyzing discrimination and harassment data obtained from all 26 campuses in the CUNY system and from the Central Office. The goal of the Center is to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the CUNY community, including discrimination and harassment that violates Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and associated federal, state, and local civil rights laws. Notes Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. This position is excluded from union representation in the collective bargaining unit. Qualifications Minimum: Preferred Master’s degree in law, business, higher education or in a related field. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, laws, and guidelines including Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Clery Act, New York Education Law Article 129-A and 129-B, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504, state and local disability laws, and relevant CUNY policies and bylaws. Experience conducting equal employment opportunity (EEO)/compliance investigations, preferably in a higher education setting. Effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to determine mutually acceptable outcomes for difficult problems requiring the consideration of competing interests. Self-directed, results and detail-oriented with the ability to use sound judgment and/or data in decision-making. Outstanding analytical and research skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish plans, launch new initiatives, and manage multiple assignments with conflicting priorities and strict deadlines. Computer applications proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and PeopleSoft. Cuny Title Overview Oversees and provides leadership for The City University of New York (CUNY) Diversity Management and Compliance Programs. Oversees University-wide compliance with City, State, and Federal statutes and university policies covering AA/EEO, 504/ADA, Pluralism and Diversity, and Sexual Harassment Prevention Oversees governmental and University reporting obligations and compliance policies and procedures, including affirmative action plans. Consults with CUNY campus and University units, guiding implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of employment, diversity, and compliance programs Provides communications and training to assist campus personnel involved in Diversity Management Promotes a respectful workplace that is free from discrimination Performs related duties as assigned.

CUNY TITLE

Higher Education Officer FLSA Exempt Compensation And Benefits The salary range is $150,770 - $160,827 , commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.
