PARAMEDIC - Part Time

Provides and directs fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured utilizing all basic and advanced abilities and techniques, including but not limi ted to the placement of peripheral and intra-o sseous lin es, Supraglottic airways, endotracheal intubations , Cricothyrotomy, fluid and drug therapy, cardiac monitoring and EKG int erp ret ations, defibrillation, and cardioversion; Recognizes and understands a medical emergency and makes reasonable and acceptab l e differential diagnosis; Recognizes common cardiacdysrhythmias and understands the principles and treatment modalities for li fe threatening dysrhythmias ; Understa nds and anticipates the pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients; Understands and anticipates potentially life-threatening presentation of non-cardiac emergenc i es andinstitut e s appropriat e e mergency therapy where essential for the preservation of life; Deals with medical andemotiona l needsof any victimofacuteillnessorinjurywiththegoal of reducingmortalityand morbidity; Responsible for managing and directing all first responders at the scene of a medical emergency such as EMR's, Police Departments, and EMT's; Responsible for quality patient-care as established by the Company; Files standard i zed reportsofpatient informationand care forthe useofreceiving hospital andadministration,including natureofrequestfor aid,pertinentpasthistory,therapyprovided diagnosis, dispositionandsufficientpatient informationforbilling purposes; Maintains effective communication with physici a n ondutyathospitalto relate patient condition and obtainorders for treatment; Follows standard written protocols when a physician cannot be contacted; Transport s the ill and injured to institution s of medical care ; Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all condition; Properly comp l ets patient statistics and medical information forms fo r administrative use ; Performs technical r escues in remo v ing victims from varied terrain and circumstances; and Follow s stan dard operating policies and procedure s as de ve l oped and direc ted by the Company ; Cleans and Maintains equipment . Additional Examples of Work Performed Cleans and maintains (minormaintenance)vehicles; C l eans and maintains li v ing quarters; Maintains records of vehicles, su ppli es, training and daily work; and Performs other related duties as assigned. The s upervi so r makes assignmentsinterms of shifts tobeworked and the generalscopeofthework assignment. Theincumbent performs theworkinaccordance withtheprocedures,policiesandmedicalordersprovided. The incumbent mustexercisejudgmentinapplying the proper guideline to the proper situation. The workisspot checked and evaluated based on feedback fromthe patient,medical staff and others. Minimum Qualifications Must possess and maintain: P ara medic Licen s ure CPR for the Health Care Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Good knowledge of the street sys tems, addresses andphysica l layoutofthearea,and of the rescueequipment andtheemergency medicalequipmentusedinAdvanced Life Support. Good ability to : P erform technical medical sk ills with a hi g h degree of accuracy; U nderstand and effective l y deal with emotional and medical n ee ds of v ictims of injuries , acute illne sses, or p syc hol og ic a l emergencies; M aintain a professional and objective approac h tothecareofillorinjured persons; Le arn newconceptsinrescueand medical skillsandtechniques andinpre-hospitalcare; P erform a va rie ty of limitedm ec hanic a l workinvolvedintheuse,testingand maintenance of rescue and medicalequipment; D irect the work of and teach other personnel; U nderstand an d follow oral and written instructions and orders; M aintain a professiona l attitude when representing the Co mpany ; E stab li s h andmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswith otheremployees,assistingagencies,hospitalpersonneland thegeneralpublic: D rive and operate emergency ambulance units; A uthor reports with narrative and numeric information. Additionally, incumbents must maintain a high degree of academic and practical knowledge in emergency para-medicine , and must attend sufficient continuing education classes, courses and seminars both on and off dut y to maintain annual paramedic certification, as required by the state in which you will be working. Other Requirements The work requires the incumbent to operate emergency medica l vehicles , move medica l equipment and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. Situation can in vo l ve veh i cular, industrial and residential accidents, injurie s or illn ess and occ ur anywhere in our coverage area. At times the work requires mov e m ent over various types of terrain , (hilly , steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/s li ppery surfaces). The incumbent always must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the injury to the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend the injured party to the hospital. In order to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, the incumbent must see, hear and communicate wi t h the injured party. Param ed ic s wi ll be i ss ued and must wear Company issued uniforms while o n duty;additionally,Paramedicswillberesponsible forthemaintenanceand cleaningofuniforms,as wellas allissuedequipment. Paramedics arerequiredto carry a Companyissuedpager/radio at alltimesinorder toreceiveimmediatenotificationof an assignment.
