Global Commodity ManagerReporting to the Global Procurement Manager, the Commodity Manager owns the development and execution of global commodity strategies for spend categories. This role is accountable for cost productivity, supplier performance, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation across a global supply base. The position requires a strategic, competitive, and execution-focused leader who can convert market intelligence, spend analytics, and business priorities into sourcing actions that deliver measurable business results.Directly influences cost competitiveness, working capital, supplier performance, and continuity of supplyShapes sourcing decisions, supplier selection, and commodity strategies that support business growth and accelerated operational performanceServes as a strategic partner to operations, engineering, quality, materials, and finance in driving enterprise value through strategic procurementOwn and execute global commodity strategies that improve cost, quality, delivery, innovation, supplier capability, and long-term total valueLead and coach cross-functional teams, providing direction, accountability, and support to drive sourcing execution, supplier performance improvement, and business resultsLead strategic sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification through supplier selection, negotiation, implementation, and results realizationAnalyze spend, market conditions, supplier economics, commodity trends, and business demand to identify sourcing opportunities, supply risks, and competitive advantagesOwn supplier selection, sourcing recommendations, commodity decisions, and award strategies with accountability for business outcomesBuild and maintain a robust productivity pipeline including PPV, VAVE, negotiations, should-cost opportunities, make/buy analysis, supplier consolidation, and low-cost region sourcing initiativesManage supplier performance through segmentation, scorecards, quarterly business reviews, corrective actions, development plans, and escalation managementNegotiate and manage commercial agreements, pricing structures, long-term sourcing commitments, and key contractual terms that protect the business and improve competitivenessLead supply risk mitigation and continuity planning through dual sourcing, capacity reviews, lead time reduction, inventory strategy alignment, resourcing, and business continuity actionsProject manage cross-functional sourcing and supplier improvement initiatives involving suppliers, engineering, operations, quality, materials, and financeMonitor market intelligence including commodity movements, supplier capability changes, tariffs, regional sourcing opportunities, and geopolitical risks, and translate them into proactive business actionsCollaborate with enterprise commodity leaders and internal stakeholders to leverage scale, align sourcing approaches, and share best practices across the organizationOperate with high throughput and urgency, managing multiple sourcing programs, supplier actions, and performance initiatives simultaneouslyTravel up to 20% to assess, develop, and manage domestic and global sources of supplyThis role reports directly to the Global Procurement Manager and works closely with Materials Management, Buyers/Planners, Supplier Quality, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Product Management, and other key stakeholdersManagement experience with the ability to lead, coach, and develop individuals or cross-functional project teams while creating accountability for resultsStrong strategic judgment with the ability to anticipate financial, operational, and supplier implications of sourcing decisionsProven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authorityHighly analytical with strong problem-solving capability and experience using structured root cause analysis, corrective actions, and countermeasure developmentDemonstrated ability to make sound commercial decisions with incomplete data and in dynamic business conditionsStrong financial acumen with experience building business cases, savings models, sourcing recommendations, and executive-ready presentationsDemonstrated change leadership, persistence, and resilience in driving supplier improvement, sourcing transitions, and cost productivity initiativesExcellent negotiation, stakeholder management, communication, and conflict resolution skillsStrong command of metrics, dashboards, supplier scorecards, and performance data to drive accountability and measurable resultsHands-on, action-oriented, and willing to work at both strategic and detailed levels to deliver outcomesTrack record of meeting or exceeding performance targets and progressing through increasing scope and accountabilityWorking knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environmentExperience with Oracle, JDE, SAP, or similar ERP systems preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, spend analytics, or data visualization tools preferred7+ years of experience in procurement, commodity management, or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environmentPrior experience leading teams, managing direct or indirect reports, or driving cross-functional project teams through complex sourcing, supplier, or operational initiativesExperience developing and executing global sourcing strategies across regions, suppliers, and cross-functional teamsExperience leading supplier negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, sourcing transitions, and supplier performance improvement activitiesExperience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and structured problem-solving methodologies preferredBachelor's degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related fieldMBA is a plusISM certification such as CPSM is a plus
