Survey Technician - Crew Chief

Description Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician/Survey Crew Chief to join our team in our Lansdale, PA office. This position will assist our Geospatial team with survey research, boundary surveys, utility locates/SUE, and survey computations. It is a hybrid role that involves both field and office work. Duties and Responsibilities Limited Office: Survey/utility research, boundary analysis, exhibit preparation, base map drafting, survey computations, and utility records research Importing and analyzing field data Perform QA/QC checks Coordinate and work with field crews and office staff Lead and mentor survey crew members Operate GPS, total stations, and data collectors Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders Maintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkers Adhere to the company's Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies Ensure division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism Physical Requirements Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances Ability to work in outdoor conditions subject to weather, insects, changing environments, etc. Required Experience Strong listening, writing, and verbal communication skills Knowledge of topographic surveys and field crew prep Ability to manage multiple tasks, support project coordination, and interact with other design services Full use of Microsoft Office Ability to lead a survey crew and train/mentor crew members Must operate a total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes for control networks, boundaries, topography, construction staking, etc. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license and clean driving history Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience SIT or CST Certification Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff Field experience using locating equipment to perform utility locates Ability to operate AutoCAD Civil 3D Westwood provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
