The EHS Specialist owns EHS programs at Mile High Labs - from OSHA compliance, hazardous waste management, and environmental permitting, while building a safety-first culture that lives in daily operations, this role is both a technical authority and an organizational leader, responsible for protecting our people, our license to operate, and our reputation as a trusted global ingredient supplier.Compensation: Salary $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 Comprehensive Benefits Package, Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA Benefits, 401K and Paid Time Off (PTO) * A great team environment * Entrepreneurial environment * Diverse and inclusive workplace where we all learn from each other * Ongoing training, development, and support for a career in the CBD/Cannabinoid industry.Program Management & Regulatory Compliance:Implement, manage, and continuously improve EHS programs aligned with OSHA, CDPHE, DOT, NFPA, IFC, and other applicable standardsServe as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, managing all communications, inspections, and submissionsMaintain MHL's environmental permits including Air, Hazardous Waste (Large Quantity Generator), and Stormwater (No Exposure)Submit annual OSHA injury and illness data (Form 300A) via the Injury Tracking Application by the March 1 deadlineSafety Culture & Cross-Functional Collaboration:Participate in daily operations meetings to review safety events, address EHS matters, and integrate safety priorities into day-to-day workflowsBuild relationships across departments to ensure EHS requirements are consistently understood and metChampion industrial hygiene practices including noise monitoring and flammable vapor monitoringDevelop, deliver, and document comprehensive EHS training programs for all employeesRisk Management and Incident Response:Conduct regular risk assessments, facility inspections, and compliance audits across all EHS program areasIdentify compliance gaps and develop targeted corrective action plansLead thorough investigations of all EHS incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)Develop, maintain, and regularly exercise emergency response plans covering hazardous materials, flammable solvent exposures, and site evacuationsHazardous Waste & Workers' CompensationOversee the full hazardous waste management program, including waste profiling, audits, and regulatory communicationsAdminister the Workers' Compensation program, including injury investigation, claims management, and OSHA 300 recordkeepingDevelop and enforce strategies for injury prevention and PPE complianceDocumentation & Reporting:Maintain all required EHS records including air permits, SDS, LOTO documentation, hazard assessments, HAZCOM, respirator fit tests, forklift certifications, confined space permits, and DOT Hazmat certificationsTrack, tabulate, and report EHS performance metrics to leadership on a regular cadenceManage EHS change control procedures in VeevaInspection Coordination and Compliance Assurance:Coordinate with internal and external inspections and assist in regulatory agency inspections.Ensure compliance gaps are identified, and action plans are developed to mitigate deficiencies.Continuous Improvement in EH&S Practices:Stay informed on emerging trends and best practices in industrial hygiene, environmental health, and safety management.Continually enhance EH&S performance, aligning with industry standards and best practices.Qualifications/Educational Requirements/Certification RequirementsBachelor's degree in science, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, Business, or related field is required.Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).OSHA certification or similar health and safety qualifications.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/Experience Requirements:Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in GMP, pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing environmentsDirect experience managing flammable solvent hazards and working in Class I, Division 1 and Division 2 classified electrical environments per NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 30Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks (OSHA, CDPHE, DOT, NFPA, IFC) with the ability to translate requirements into practical operational practicesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, including risk-based analysis, cost-benefit assessments, and compliance gap identificationProven ability to lead incident investigations, CAPA development, and continuous improvement initiativesExcellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills; comfortable engaging with both frontline employees and senior leadershipSkilled at building cross-functional relationships and gaining leadership buy-in on EHS prioritiesProficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), Veeva, and incident/CAPA management toolsEqual Opportunity MHL is committed to equal employment opportunity and to compliance with federal anti-discrimination laws.
