General Statement of Job Function The Admissions Counselor serves as the primary point of contact for prospective Denver Seminary students within an assigned recruitment territory, whether Global Campus/Online or Residential Campus, from initial inquiry through matriculation. This student-facing role communicates the Seminary’s strengths, commitments, programs, and resources to increase applicant yield, meet enrollment goals, and support a successful transition into study. The Admissions Counselor partners with other enrollment professionals to guide students through application, financial aid, registration, payment, and onboarding processes while recognizing the unique needs of each caseload. The role also maintains accurate student records and application information throughout the admissions process. Success requires a personable, hospitable, organized, and responsive professional who is passionate about Denver Seminary and able to anticipate prospective student needs. Essential Functions Builds and maintains meaningful relationships with prospective students that encourage enrollment at Denver Seminary. Communicates knowledgeably and accurately about Denver Seminary to targeted audiences to expand the prospective student pool and increase applicant yield. Hosts virtual and on-campus visits and facilitates connections among prospective students, faculty, staff, and current students. Maintains a 48-hour response standard for incoming student emails and calls, new applications, and new inquiries. Maintains proactive monthly contact with assigned prospective students through calls, email, and other appropriate communication channels. Supports Preview Days and virtual information sessions from setup through completion, including representing the Seminary during scheduled sessions. Provides prospective students with timely, relevant, and accurate information. Advises prospective students by email, Zoom, telephone, publications, and in-person interaction regarding admissions procedures, degree programs, student life, and related topics. Maintains accurate prospective student records in Slate and Campus Nexus, verifies application completeness, and documents interactions with each student. Compiles and reviews completed applications as the first reader in the admissions process. Travels locally and nationally, as needed, to represent Denver Seminary at recruitment events. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management or the Vice President of Student Life and Enrollment Management. Education/Training Bachelor’s degree required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Three years of related professional experience with a demonstrated record of success. Experience with student enrollment or customer relationship management software, marketing, or sales preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn institutional systems, including Slate and Campus Nexus. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, theological education, degree requirements, ministry preparation, and applicable student enrollment policies and regulations. Professional, hospitable, and student-centered disposition, with a willingness to recruit and serve students from a variety of backgrounds. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and public-speaking skills. Demonstrated discretion and commitment to maintaining confidentiality. High attention to detail, personal integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Ability to manage multiple priorities, ongoing projects, frequent interruptions, and changing goals with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, take initiative, solve problems, and maintain cooperative working relationships. Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a consistent focus on high-quality outcomes and continuous personal and professional growth. Successful recruitment of an incoming class that supports institutional enrollment goals. Accurate, timely, and effective completion of assigned responsibilities and student communications. Ongoing personal, professional, and spiritual growth that strengthens service to prospective students and the Seminary community. Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions Normal office environment with regular computer use, including extended periods of sitting and occasional standing, walking, stair climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This student-facing role may also require local or national travel and occasional evening or weekend availability for recruitment events.
