CAPEX Procurement Manager

Reference: PR/606107_1787080221CAPEX Category ManagerWe are partnering with a leading North American industrial manufacturing organization to appoint a CAPEX Category Manager to support a major production facility in the Albany, NY area. This is a highly visible, plant-based procurement role focused on capital projects, equipment sourcing, construction services, and supplier management initiatives that directly impact site performance and long-term operational growth.Key ResponsibilitiesLead strategic sourcing and procurement activities supporting CAPEX projects, plant investments, equipment purchases, construction projects, and engineering services.Manage competitive bid processes including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and commercial negotiations.Develop and execute category strategies focused on cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and supply continuity.Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, and Project teams to support capital investment initiatives.Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, cost reduction, and process improvement across assigned spend categories.Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements while ensuring alignment with business objectives and project requirements.Monitor supplier performance and drive accountability related to quality, delivery, service, and cost targets.Support multiple capital projects simultaneously while managing stakeholder expectations and procurement timelines.Experience Required5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, project procurement, or supply chain within manufacturing, industrial, construction, building materials, chemicals, energy, utilities, or related industries.Required experience sourcing capital project spend including capital equipment, construction services, engineering services, infrastructure, or major project spend.Demonstrated success managing supplier negotiations, sourcing events, and contract execution.Experience supporting manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, or capital project environments.Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline preferred.Key SkillsCAPEX Procurement: Experience sourcing and managing capital equipment, construction, engineering, and project-related spend.Strategic Sourcing: Ability to develop sourcing strategies that deliver measurable cost savings and operational value.Supplier Management: Proven experience building relationships and driving performance across a diverse supplier base.Negotiation: Strong commercial negotiation skills with experience managing complex agreements and competitive bid processes.Stakeholder Management: Ability to work cross-functionally with plant leadership, engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams.Analytics & Cost Savings: Strong analytical capabilities with a track record of identifying and executing savings opportunities.This opportunity is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys working directly with plant operations and capital project stakeholders while maintaining ownership of sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization initiatives.
