The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of more than 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. Position Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will work approximately 30 hours per week during the racing season at the State Detention Barn at Tampa Bay Downs racetrack in Oldsmar, Florida. The incumbent of this position will spend 80 percent of time collecting specimen samples from racing animals following strict chain-of-custody procedures to ensure evidential integrity of test results. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience working with animals; Ability to complete necessary forms documenting specimen collection; and Communication and customer service. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent. Preferred Qualifications, not required: Experience with thoroughbred racehorses, other breeds of horses, or other large animals. Experience and/or training; or a combination of extensive education and experience in the Florida regulated thoroughbred industry or a similar jurisdiction.
