LCDC organizes with the community for the power toeliminatehealth and wealth disparities in North Lawndale. We develop and manage affordable mixed-use housing, create homeownership for workingfamiliesand build cooperative businesses. The Job: Primary Responsibilities · Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safetystandards. · Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breakerpanelsetc.) · Assistin the setup of ventilation,refrigerationand other systems and conduct repairs whennecessary. · Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensurefunctionality. · Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs whenneeded. · Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replacewindowsetc.) · Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide · Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g.,landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting,carpentryetc.) · Assistin budget preparation and ensure it isfollowed. Other Expectations · Model Christian leadership and take a biblical approach to conflict resolution. · Participate in occasional community organizing activities. · Participate in professional development training as resources allow. Requirements · Proven experience as maintenance technician · Basic understanding of electrical,hydraulic,and other systems · Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods · Working knowledge of tools, commonappliances,and devices · Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills · Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to workovertime. · High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be aplus. · Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) isdesired.
