Medical Assistant PositionThe DuPont Clinic is a referral center for all-trimester abortion and ultrasound-guided procedures, including for abnormal or high risk pregnancies, and for people with complex medical situations who may have difficulty accessing care. We provide the highest level of medical care and a private experience focused on the individual needs of each patient. The DuPont Clinic is committed to creating an inclusive environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel comfortable.We are seeking a Medical Assistant who is responsible for routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the clinical services running smoothly. This position supports patient care throughout all clinical stages from intake to recovery by performing medical, administrative, and operational tasks. Responsibilities include assisting in procedures, processing labs, handling sterile instruments, maintaining exam and procedure rooms, managing inventory, and facilitating communication across care teams. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, respectful, and efficient patient experiences. They will also be a skilled multitasker capable of maintaining a global awareness of all clinical operations and working with the clinical services team to meet changing conditions. This is a full time position reporting to the Associate Manager of Clinical Services (AMCS).Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:Greeting and checking in patients on arrival to clinic; collecting patient payments and ensuring accurate billing informationRecord patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical recordsProvide medical report and patient information to clinicians and nursing staffObtain medical information from patients and accurately obtain vital signsPrepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and cleanAssemble, sterilize, and restock all medical trays and tools in Central Prep (CP); maintain room readiness and infection control standardsCollect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, prepare them for testing with LabCorp, and create lab ordersPerform point of care lab tests such as urine pregnancy, hemoglobin, glucose, and urinalysis tests. Run controls and document control and patient results.Provide ultrasound support for procedures and patient care, once trainedExplain treatment procedures, medications (non-narcotics), or clinicians' instructions to patients, including discharge instructionsClean and sterilize instruments, dispose of contaminated supplies, process biomedical wasteMaintain inventory of supplies for clinical care in coordination with Clinical Services and the Operations TeamParticipate in genetic testing coordination by collecting blood or tissue, completing forms, packaging kits, and dropping off at FedExAssist clinicians to examine and treat patients by handing them instruments or materialsAfter training, follow DuPont policy in administration of oral non-controlled substance medications under supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice clinician, or physicianPerform general office duties, taking dictation, or completing medical forms under supervision from the associate manager of clinical servicesSecure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidentialPerform administrative tasks as assignedPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)High school diploma/ GED; Associates degree in Medical Assisting preferredCurrent Medical Assistant certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCCT NCMA) required; BLS certification requiredMinimum two years of experience working in an ambulatory clinic/medical office settingAbility to master electronic scheduling platforms (Quickbase, etc.)Flexibility with scheduling; willingness to take on call shifts and stay after hours when needed on a rotation with other staffPossess an ability to multitask in a high stress, physically demanding settingPrevious experience in abortion care or healthcareAn understanding of and commitment to deconstructing the ways in which racism, sexism, classism, and ableism manifest and cause harm in healthcare and more broadlyStrong commitment to a person's bodily autonomy and their right to access abortion care in all trimestersBilingual fluency in Spanish preferredPhysical and Work Environment:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 5:30 PM. Some Fridays are administrative days with the expectation that meetings will be attended. This position will require administrative work completed on Fridays 2-3x a month. Clinical Fridays occur 1-3x a month. Tuesday to Friday clinical weeks occur as needed and following Monday holidays. Monday to Friday clinical weeks occur when there is a designated clinical Friday.This position is eligible for overtimeThis position requires taking weeklong on-call shifts 1-2x a month, and staying after 5:30 pm if needed for patient care 1-2 times a week. This position requires a 7:45am start time 2-3 weeks a month.The position is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors.The worker at times is required to wear a facemask, gown, and/or gloves.The position has a likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materialsThe position may require moderate liftingFast-paced, multicultural, collaborative work environmentBenefits:Benefits package includes: health insurance, 401(k) retirement plan (with a company contribution starting the first quarter after 6 months of employment), periodic bonuses, paid time off, and 10 paid holidays.
