Transportation Supervisor

The position is responsible for supervising employees in various departments throughout the kitchen, including but not limited to equipment, food and transportation, and for ensuring safety compliance for all external areas serviced by Gate Gourmet. Supervise and support lower management/supervisors on daily operations. Responsible for transportation routing, coordinating flight delivery assignments, and ensuring kitchen departure times are being met. Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery according to schedules, report maintenance and repair issues in a timely manner. Conduct inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste. In partnership with the Ops Manager and General Manager, prepare and plan against end of the month projections. Prepare management reports (ex. attendance, HAACCP and labor) as required. Interface and coordinate between customers and employees. Under special circumstances, supervise (with labor) to get flights serviced on time. Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaise appropriately with HR and other support functions. Manage workflow balancing and division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift. Manage daily manpower planning, including assignment of responsibilities and workstations. Determine when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.). Determine number of employees needed by shift in conjunction with department leaders. Ensure compliance with company Wage & Hour policy. Train and monitor employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses. Monitor daily manpower planning and schedule employees. Responsible for employee retention and reducing employee turnover. Coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions for employees in compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Ensure employees are in correct cost centers and job titles. Ensure union represented employees’ pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority. Ensure employees complete all required training including ServSafe and all company policies. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred. 2+ years supervisory experience in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment. Strong and effective leadership skills, ability to manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees. Comfortable with all levels of employees and able to drive positive program change. Ability to train others and provide positive and negative feedback daily. Excellent time management, strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic computer skills. ServSafe certification required; ServSafe Certified preferred. Language/communication: clear and effective speaking and writing; bilingual in English and Spanish/Chinese Mandarin/Vietnamese/Hindi/Polish a plus.
