In-office locations: Albany, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA). Summary We are looking for a highly capable Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to work on a temporary assignment through 9 October 2026. The role will adjudicate indemnity workers’ compensation claims of higher technical complexity for our customers in AL, LA, MS, and TN. Only government mandated benefits will be provided. Essential Responsibilities Work under technical direction and within significant limits and authority to adjudicate workers’ compensation claims of higher technical complexity. Resolve issues that are generalized and typically not complex but require understanding of a broader set of issues. Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments. Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties. Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage. Manage claims in litigation. Manage diary, timely and complete tasks to ensure that cases move to the best financial outcome and timely resolution. Properly set claim reserves. Identify, assign, and coordinate the assignment of expertise resources to assist in case resolution. Prepare reports for file documentation. Apply creative solutions that result in the best financial outcome. Negotiate settlements. Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.). Have an appreciation and passion for strong claim management. Qualifications / Experience Required Practical knowledge of adjudicating workers’ compensation claims through: A minimum of five years’ experience adjudicating workers’ compensation claims in AL, LA, MS, or TN. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required, or two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience in adjudicating medical only claims may substitute. License required in AL, LA, and MS. Good business acumen. Excellent communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships. Natural curiosity. Desire to work in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent evaluation and strategic skills. Strong claim negotiation skills. Strong customer focus. Effective time management and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to articulate financial value of work at multiple responsibility levels inside client business. Work independently and exercise sound judgment. Demonstrate integrity and moral courage. Intellectual curiosity. Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business‑related software. Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills. Fluent English reading and writing. Desire for continued professional development. Salary Range Base salary ranges vary by geography as follows: Colorado (outside Denver metro), Delaware, Illinois (outside Chicago metro), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts (outside Boston metro), Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia: $37.66 – $44.33 Boston metro, California (outside Los Angeles & San Francisco metro), Connecticut, Chicago metro, Denver metro, New Jersey (outside New York City metro), New York State (outside New York City metro), Washington, D.C. metro, Washington State: $41.44 – $48.79 New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco metro: $45.12 – $53.16 Benefits And Compensation Competitive compensation package, performance‑based incentives, and comprehensive benefits—including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
