Travel RN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg & Cardiology position at a 595-bed accredited hospital in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent experience and an AL or compact RN license in good standing.

Job Details

• Day shift position with hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM on a 3x12 schedule (36 hours/week),
• Located on a 30-bed Med/Surg & Cardiology unit (2 West),
• Patient population includes pre- and post-heart cath, general cardiology (chest pain, hypertension), and general med/surg patients,
• Patient ratio is 1:6,
• Standard acute care equipment in use,
• Charting is performed in Cerner EMR,
• Every other weekend required,
• No on-call requirements,
• Travelers are first to float, including to like units and facilities within a 25-mile radius,
• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license in good standing (no hits on license accepted),
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required - AHA-issued only; American Red Cross is not accepted,
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in med/surg required; cardiology experience preferred,
• Acute care skills required,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
• SSN and DOB required for consideration,

• Care for a mix of pre/post-heart cath, cardiology, and general med/surg patients in an acute care setting,
• The facility is a Joint Commission-accredited, 595-bed comprehensive hospital recognized for excellence in stroke care, cardiovascular services, and surgical care, among other specialties,
• The hospital holds Primary Stroke Center certification and Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus Achievement in Stroke from the American Heart Association,
• Navy scrubs are required,
