Clinical Laboratory Scientist

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision. CLS personnel are capable of performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, and instrument maintenance and problem resolution. They often work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, along with other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Coursework/Training 16 semesters or equivalent quarter units of chemistry, which must include clinical chemistry, OR analytical chemistry
  • Coursework/Training 18 semester or equivalent quarter units of biology, which must include hematology, immunology, and medical microbiology
  • Coursework/Training 3 semester or equivalent quarter units of physics (light and electricity)
  • Upon hire: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California
  • 1 year Internship - prerequisite to the State Exam

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years Clinical lab experience in a hospital setting.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
