Tractor Trailer Driver

Position is for our Honsador Lumber - Maui location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Drives truck to destination in a safe and efficient manner.
• Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
• Delivers and off-loads material.
• Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
• Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Cleans inside of truck.
• Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
• Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have valid Hawaii CDL Class A License, clean traffic abstract, and current Medical Exam Certificatre (MEC)
• Detail Oriented, communication skills and basic math skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Previous CDL A driving experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

SKILLS/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED - Meets all federal and state driver's license regulations. Must have a Commercial Driver License (CDL).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit and frequently required to walk and talk or hear. WORK ENVIRONMENT - The work environment requires the employee to work regularly near moving mechanical parts and to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee occasionally is exposed to harsh outside weather conditions. This position may require the employee to use safety equipment such as protective eyewear, earplugs, gloves, safety shoes etc.
