Orthodontist AssociateThe Orthodontist Associate specializes in diagnosing and treating dental and facial irregularities using braces, aligners, and other orthodontic appliances. They develop personalized treatment plans to improve both function and aesthetics, working closely with patients and the dental team to support long-term oral health.Essential Responsibilities:Diagnose orthodontic conditions and create customized treatment plans using clinical assessments, digital imaging, and patient consultationProvide orthodontic care to patients of all ages using braces (metal, ceramic), clear aligners, retainers, and other appliancesMonitor treatment progress, adjust appliances as needed, and ensure optimal outcomesEducate patients and guardians on treatment options, oral hygiene, timelines, and post-treatment retentionMaintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation and progress notes in accordance with practice protocolsEnsure a comfortable, safe, and positive experience for patients throughout treatmentCollaborate with general dentists and other dental specialists to provide comprehensive patient careAdhere to clinical standards, infection control protocols, and HIPAA complianceStay current with evolving orthodontic techniques, technologies, and treatment methodologies through continuing educationParticipate in team meetings, training, and occasional outreach events to promote the practice's orthodontic servicesMentor orthodontic assistants and support clinical excellence across the teamSupervise and support dental assistants and hygienists during proceduresAssist in maintaining clean and organized clinical areasContribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, patient satisfaction, and case acceptancePerform other duties as assigned to support operationsQualifications & Experience:DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental schoolCompletion of an accredited orthodontic residency programCurrent state dental license in good standing (and orthodontic specialty license if required)Clear communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children, teens, and familiesStrong diagnostic, clinical, and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency with digital orthodontic technologies (e.g., iTero, Invisalign, digital charting) preferredCommitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative team environmentTeam members are expected to uphold the culture outlined in the SDB Handbook, with a focus on our core values and any additional responsibilities as defined
