Construction Superintendent

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent for a direct hire opportunity in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for a field construction leader with a strong background managing residential, commercial, or office construction projects and a proven ability to drive safety, quality, schedule, productivity, and trade contractor coordination.

The Construction Superintendent will lead day-to-day site operations for assigned projects, generally with scopes under $75 million or designated components of larger complex projects. This position works closely with the Project Manager, owners, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to keep projects moving efficiently from pre-construction through close-out.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage on-site construction activities, field operations, site logistics, productivity, work quality, and daily project execution.
- Lead project safety efforts, including site-specific safety plans, safety meetings, toolbox talks, hazard correction, and compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Coordinate trade contractors, suppliers, inspections, procurement, schedules, cost codes, budgets, production tracking, and project documentation.
- Review plans, specifications, construction drawings, schedules, and constructability details to identify issues, prevent delays, and support efficient project delivery.
- Partner with the Project Manager, owner, design team, and internal departments during pre-construction, planning, execution, punchlist, and close-out.
- Support client relationships, proposal preparation, scheduling input, constructability reviews, and future project pursuit efforts.

Compensation and Benefits

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage field execution for assigned commercial, office, or residential construction projects.
- Lead site safety, quality control, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and project productivity.
- Review construction documents, manage site documentation, coordinate inspections, and support project close-out.
- Collaborate with project managers, owners, design teams, internal departments, trade contractors, and suppliers.

- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of directly related construction experience, or high school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of directly related experience.
- Experience managing progressively responsible construction projects with proven field leadership results.
- Proficiency with construction management and scheduling tools such as Procore, P6, MS Project, Excel, AutoCAD, and project management software.
- Strong understanding of building plans, specifications, constructability, value engineering, life cycle costing, schedules, budgets, cost codes, and production tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to drive safety initiatives, site safety compliance, and incident prevention.
- Current OSHA 30 certification or ability to become current with OSHA 30 and company safety requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and project demands under time constraints while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with owners, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Ability to climb, walk, lift, carry, push, and perform repetitive motion activities throughout the day.
- Ability to occasionally lift, move, or carry up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to travel to project sites and accept long-term out-of-town assignments as needed.
- Willingness to work in various climate conditions, including extreme conditions when required.
- Demonstrated integrity, ethical standards, sound judgment, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Experience supporting pre-construction, constructability reviews, quantity take-offs, pricing estimates, proposals, and project pursuits.
- Active participation in an industry organization.
- Experience on complex projects with a track record of supporting growth, operational improvement, and change management.
