(WJE) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Integrity Engineer with 15+ years of experience to join our growing Fitness For Service (FFS) practice based in Houston, Texas. With an in-depth knowledge of process‑equipment damage mechanisms, fixed‑equipment mechanical integrity (FEMI), and safety‑critical FFS evaluations, you will support established clients and pursue new projects through your professional network. Responsibilities Execute technical projects for the day‑to‑day success of multiple concurrent engagements. Act as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project teams. Apply a principles‑first approach to develop practical solutions, leveraging codes, standards, and industry practices. Perform complex, nonlinear analysis, fieldwork, and prepare technically excellent client deliverables. Provide high‑quality technical reviews of work completed by others. Seal project documents as Engineer of Record when appropriate. Project management: develop clients, initiate projects, scope, assemble teams, and manage expectations, deliverables and financials. Contribute to practice development and company‑wide objectives, including technical consultation, fostering client relationships, training initiatives, and industry engagement. Mentor team members, exemplifying WJE culture of shared destiny and knowledge sharing. Qualifications Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain one. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in aerospace, civil/structural, mechanical engineering, or related field; master’s or PhD is a plus. Minimum fifteen years of relevant industry experience within petrochemical, refining, power generation, upstream, midstream, mining, or other heavy‑industrial markets. Expertise in: Level 3 assessment per API 579 / ASME FFS‑1 Fracture mechanics, fatigue, and failure mechanisms Nonlinear finite‑element analysis (ABAQUS preferred) Design, repairs, alterations, and reliability of fixed equipment, pressure vessels, and piping Dedicated self‑starter motivated to contribute to a growing consulting practice based on a principles‑first approach. Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills. * The minimum years of experience may be flexible for candidates who can clearly demonstrate they are already performing at or above the level of responsibility expected for this position. Physical Requirements Travel to various office, field, and plant sites. Inspect process equipment and structures visually and instrumentally. Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in hazardous locations, including outdoors with temperature extremes. Use ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment safely. Lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment up to 50 lb. Fit to use respiratory protection devices and other PPE. Operate a motor vehicle safely. Obtain TWIC and authorization to work and travel throughout the United States without restrictions. Compensation and Benefits WJE offers a robust total compensation structure: base salary, incentive pay, and industry‑leading benefits. Starting base salary (gross) is typically in the range $115,650–$192,750. Employees receive variable compensation based on personal and company performance.
