From designing water, wastewater, or stormwater systems to evaluating, permitting, and restoring sensitive habitats, our services support sustainable development and resilient infrastructure.The Water/Wastewater Infrastructure Practice is seeking a Water / Wastewater (& Stormwater) Infrastructure Group Leader in Salt Lake City, UT.The Water / Wastewater (& Stormwater) Infrastructure Group Leader supports and grows DEA's municipal potable water, stormwater, wastewater, and recycled water system work through team leadership, client development, project delivery, and technical excellence. Unlike a traditional project management role, this position is accountable for group staffing, utilization, technical capabilities, employee development, and overall team performance. The successful candidate will provide leadership to project managers and technical staff while fostering client relationships, advancing business development efforts, and delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities:Assess current and future technical capabilities within the group and develop strategies to address gaps.Identify and develop future project managers, technical leaders, and team leaders.Lead utilization planning, workforce forecasting, recruiting, onboarding, retention, coaching, and career development efforts.Lead client relationships and overall client experience while expanding business opportunities.Support pursuits, capture planning, proposal strategies, and strategic teaming efforts.Coordinate staffing assignments and resource allocation across multiple projects and project managers.Serve as Project or Program Manager on projects and programs of various sizes.Provide technical leadership and oversight for municipal potable water, stormwater, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects.Ensure project teams have the resources, staffing support, and technical expertise needed for successful delivery.Partner with business unit, market, and practice leaders to achieve growth objectives and performance goals.What You BringRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain.10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience focused on potable water, stormwater, wastewater, and recycled water systems.Experience leading teams of engineers, designers, project managers, and technical staff.Experience interviewing, hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and retaining technical staff.Experience managing utilization, workload forecasting, staffing plans, and operational performance metrics.Experience evaluating technical capabilities, workforce needs, and succession planning requirements.Demonstrated experience delivering municipal potable water, stormwater, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure programs and projects.Proven success managing projects and programs of various sizes, including coordination with stakeholders, subconsultants, and funding partners.Experience leading design efforts and guiding multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery.Strong understanding of public agency processes, permitting requirements, and funding mechanisms.Experience supporting the full project lifecycle from planning and design through construction and closeout.Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, and spreadsheet tools.Excellent communication and technical writing skills.Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and support business development and contract acquisition activities.Preferred Qualifications:Previous supervisory responsibility for technical teams, departments, or engineering groups.Experience leading geographically distributed teams.Experience supporting regional or national staffing coordination.Existing relationships with municipal leaders, utility districts, and regulatory agencies within the target market.Prior experience serving as Team Leader, Group Leader, Department Manager, or equivalent leadership role.What We OfferWe foster an environment where talented professionals have the freedom and support to do their most meaningful work.
