Job Title Auditor IV – Tax Integrity – 260004E1 Job Overview The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) administers the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program that provides temporary income assistance to Massachusetts workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. Under general direction of the Tax Integrity Manager, the Auditor IV ensures that businesses subject to Unemployment Insurance Taxes comply with MGL Chapter 151A and other regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Conduct independent audits and field investigations. Manage own caseload and lead a team of 3–5 Compliance Officer IIIs. Direct and support team members, identify training needs, assign and review work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Review progress and performance of audit activities, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure all audits meet U.S. Department of Labor standards. Execute, prioritize, and assign large, complex audits and internal/external referrals, including status investigation determinations. Originate and lead team-based investigations with other state agencies and the Council on the Underground Economy. Negotiate settlements, issue estimated findings, and refer delinquent accounts in coordination with DUA Legal Counsel and the Enforcement and Reporting Unit. Handle special projects assigned by management. Maintain hybrid work schedule—approximately three days per week in the Boston Office and the rest in the field. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or business management (education toward such a degree will be prorated). Minimum of one year substitution allowed for degree when meeting required experience. Supervisory experience with a strong background in finance, accounting, or auditing. Solid knowledge of auditing principles, practices, and relevant laws. Strong ability to follow established policies and procedures and enforce them within a team. Must possess a current driver’s license. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Office Location Hybrid position—approximately three days per week in the Boston Office, remainder in field.
