The Associate Estate Planner will be responsible for review of client estate plans. This position involves a fast-paced, high volume of client facing activities providing comprehensive services to existing clients, developing new business and assisting our advisors and financial planning team. Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of delivering excellent client service, with exceptional organizational, communication and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities
- Prepare all estate reviews for clients. This will include reviewing documents, preparing a firm-specific summary for clients that earmarks appropriate issues, and presenting that summary in client meetings with advisors and financial planners.
- Provide advisory services to clients on estate tax planning, wealth and business succession planning, charitable planning and trust tax planning.
- Communicate with strategic partners in attorneys or law firms to facilitate the drafting of estate documents.
- Conduct training sessions for the firm and planning team as needed.
- Perform tasks and other duties assigned by wealth management services team.
- Publicly represent the estate planning department through participation in firm marketing initiatives, including client and prospective client seminars, writing articles and blogs, and other activities.
- Coordinate with the financial planning department to illustrate estate planning concepts in our financial planning software as part of the financial plan delivery.
- Collaborate with the financial planning department on estate planning recommendations that require outside coordination with items such as the following, but not limited to: Life insurance illustrations, Business valuations, Donor advised funds, Buy-sell arrangements and funding, Business entity structure set up, Pre and post nuptial agreements, and Special needs trusts.
- Perform additional functions, duties and specific tasks of a similar nature as necessary in order to achieve the firm's business development and client retention objectives.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures and perform business functions with focus on consistency, quality, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and certified by the State Bar
- Minimum of 3 years experience in estate planning. Litigation experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of state property tax law
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM software
- Efficient and effective written and oral communication skills
- Experience in public speaking events
- Extremely detail oriented, exceptional follow through, reliable
- Ability to maintain positive attitude, self-motivated, ethically sound judgement
- Excellent client relations skills with ability to apply problem solving skills, and communicate solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with all levels of the firm and within a very fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Ability to work independently and exercise discretion without direct and immediate supervision
- Minimal travel required
