Project Manager - Civil & Paving

Position Overview:
We are seeking a results-driven Project Manager with strong civil and construction experience to lead asphalt, highway, paving, grading and sitework projects from preconstruction through closeout. The successful candidate will manage schedules, budgets, safety and quality, coordinate subcontractors and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead planning, scheduling and execution of civil, asphalt, highway, paving, grading and sitework projects from mobilization through closeout.
• Develop and manage project budgets, cost forecasting, change order processing and financial reporting to meet profit targets.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers and internal crews; ensure adequate resources, equipment and materials are available.
• Serve as primary point of contact for clients, engineers, inspectors and public agencies; maintain clear, professional communication and manage expectations.
• Prepare and review project schedules, work plans, progress reports and meeting minutes; take proactive measures to mitigate delays and resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company safety programs and environmental requirements; lead jobsite safety meetings and enforce safe work practices.
• Implement quality control procedures and ensure workmanship meets contract specifications and industry standards.
• Manage permitting, inspection schedules and documentation; coordinate surveys, testing and necessary corrections.
• Oversee bidding and procurement support for subcontract packages and major materials; evaluate bids and assist with subcontract negotiations.
• Mentor and develop on-site supervisors and field staff; promote continuous improvement and best practices in construction methods.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years of progressive project management experience in civil construction with direct exposure to asphalt, highway, paving, grading and sitework projects.
• Proven track record managing multiple projects concurrently with responsibility for budgets, schedules and client relations.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, estimating, contract administration and field operations.
• Familiarity with permitting processes, inspection protocols and DOT/highway standards and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills; ability to resolve conflicts and motivate diverse teams.
• Proficient with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera or similar), Microsoft Office and construction management software.
• Committed to safety and quality; OSHA training and safety certifications preferred.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
