IAD Customer Service Baggage Drop Agent

Job Description We are looking for a reliable Customer Service – Baggage Drop Agent, also known as Vendor Behind Counter (VBC), to assist airline passengers by verifying government‑issued identification, issuing baggage tags, and moving baggage to the client conveyor belt system. Pay : $18.13/hr. (Hourly rate varies based on experience, skills, geographical location, and market data.) Shift : Full Time (AM & PM) Location : Dulles International Airport Physical Demands May be required to stand and walk for 2/3 or more of the shift. May be required to talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel for 2/3 or more of the shift. May be required to periodically lift 75 pounds or more for up to 2/3 of the shift. Work Environment Moderate noise level. Language Skills Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret government identification, safety rules, operating manuals, and employee handbooks. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public. Math Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions. Address problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations. General Company Requirements Comply with company uniform and grooming standards; wear SIDA badge/Airport ID at all times. Responsibilities Meet and greet airline customers positively and friendly. Move stanchions for optimal line queue management. Verify government photo ID and/or authorization to ensure authorized access. Issue baggage tags and attach to checked baggage. Move tagged baggage to the client conveyor belt system. Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards; adhere to hazardous materials handling requirements. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic Qualifications 18 years of age or older. No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required. Meet all requirements for SIDA badge and Customs Seal (if applicable), including background check and ten‑year work history. Preferred Qualifications One year of customer service or similar experience preferred. Previous airport, baggage handling, warehouse, or porter experience preferred.
