Family Medicine - Sports Physician

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sports Medicine Physician to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to athletes and individuals of all ages, specializing in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sports-related injuries and conditions. The Sports Medicine/Orthopedic Physician will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals, to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis:

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and medical histories of patients presenting with injuries or conditions.

  • Utilize diagnostic imaging and other tests to assess injuries and develop accurate diagnoses.

• Treatment and Rehabilitation:

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including nonsurgical, to manage acute and chronic sports injuries.

  • Provide expertise in musculoskeletal care, including joint injections, ultrasound-guided procedures, and other advanced techniques.

  • Collaborate with physical therapists and athletic trainers to develop rehabilitation programs tailored to patient needs.

• Injury Prevention and Education:

  • Educate patients, coaches, and parents on injury prevention strategies, proper training techniques, and safe return-to-play guidelines

  • Conduct pre-participation physical exams and provide clearance for athletes to return to sports safely.

• Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and ensure continuity of care for patients.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and coaches regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery expectations.

• Research and Education:

  • Stay current with advancements in sports medicine/orthopedics by participating in continuing education, conferences, and professional organizations.

  • Conduct research and contribute to the field of sports medicine through publications and presentations.

• Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with

  • HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and other administrative activities as required.

Qualifications:

• Education and Training:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.

  • Completed residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), or Orthopedic Surgery.

  • Fellowship training in Sports Medicine is highly preferred.

• Licensure and Certification:

  • Valid state medical license to practice in New York.

  • Board Certification in Sports Medicine or eligibility for board certification.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a Sports Medicine Physician, preferably with experience working with athletes at the amateur or professional level.

  • Experience in a multidisciplinary clinical setting is preferred.

• Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of sports injuries, musculoskeletal disorders, and rehabilitation techniques.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
