Advanced Practice Provider II, Pediatric Hematology IP (950653) Position within the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works alongside hematologists, oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals in inpatient, procedural, and ambulatory settings. Job Summary APPs practice at the top of their license, serving as essential members of the care team who bridge advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, family‑centered care. Scheduled Hours 10‑hour shifts, Monday–Friday (including holidays when open). Experience and Education (Required) Master’s degree in nursing or higher, with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program; documentation of graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. OR Master’s graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA) program. Licenses/Certifications (Required) Advanced Practice RN (CPNP‑AC or CPNP‑PC) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire. OR National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA‑C) upon hire. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross upon hire. Preferred Experience Pediatric hematology provider preferred. New graduates with previous hematology RN experience and/or a completed clinical rotation in hematology may be considered. Job Duties Diagnose and treat critically ill patients, develop and manage treatment plans, and perform advanced procedures. Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status. Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care, ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies. Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills appropriate to specialty and training. Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding current care and preventive health measures. Facilitate or participate in quality initiatives through group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings to improve clinical and system practice performance. Collaborate in research projects and protocols; routinely apply evidence‑based best practices to patient care. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to identify opportunities and provide suggestions for improvements in departmental policy, procedures, and protocols. Ability to maintain current customer service, clinical, and technical skills. Accuracy and ability to exercise considerable judgment. Proficient use of EMR in the delivery of care. Physical Demands/Working Conditions Clinical setting; may be exposed to body fluids and infectious diseases.
