Staff Backend Engineer
Virtual Vocations Inc
As a Staff Backend Engineer on the Self-Hosted team, this full-time remote position will design and develop backend services using Go and Python, manage deployment lifecycles, and build REST and gRPC APIs for on-premises deployments, ensuring operational correctness and upgrade safety for enterprise customers. Key responsibilities Design and develop backend services in Go, focusing on operational correctness and upgrade safety Own the deployment lifecycle by building and maintaining Docker images and ensuring service functionality across various customer infrastructures Build and evolve REST and gRPC APIs while maintaining backwards-compatibility as the platform scales Required qualifications 8+ years of backend engineering experience with Go in a production microservices environment Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and writing Helm charts Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and writing zero-downtime migration scripts Experience in building and maintaining gRPC and REST APIs with versioning strategies Solid understanding of observability concepts, including structured logging and distributed tracing
