Position Title: Part-Time Pharmacy Technician

Work Location: Springfield Campus

Out-of-State Employment: Out-of-state employment is limited to Arkansas, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., and subject to supervisor approval.

Department: Magers Family Health and Wellness Center

Pay Grade: Unclassified

Proposed Salary: $16.76-$19.00 per hour

Sponsorship Information: Applicants must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the United States on a full-time basis. This position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship.

General Function: The Pharmacy Technician fills prescriptions which are checked by the pharmacist, accepts prescriptions by phone, contacts physicians for refills and transfers prescriptions to/from other pharmacies. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of workshops in Pharmacy Technology, personnel management, contracting, insurance billing and pharmacology are preferred. Experience: One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred. Skills: A knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology is required. An understanding of pharmacy computer system operations (hardware, software, and operating systems), contracting, billing and pricing is preferred. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collegially with a wider variety of professionals in a fast paced health care setting is required. Registration: Must be registered with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or upon hire. Certification: Certification or taking classes toward certification as a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
