Housekeeper

The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center (RCPAC) is seeking a loyal employee dedicated to working behind the scenes to assist with event set up, janitorial work, and maintenance of the Raleigh Convention Center. About You: The ideal candidate will have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as determined by venue events. You will be able to effectively perform janitorial functions to maintain venue cleanliness and set up facility equipment and furnishings to support events. You efficiently take down facility equipment and furnishings while returning all items to appropriate locations, ensuring items are clean and operable for future use, and/or reporting any damage to supervisor. Good customer service skills are required to provide face-to-face customer service to facility users and guests. We strive to create memorable moments for everyone who visits our venues. Work Hours: Some mornings, weekends & holidays required. Shifts will vary according to event schedule. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Reads, understands and uses scale drawings of facility floor plans and event documents to set and prepare facility spaces for events while maintaining facility cleanliness Performs janitorial functions while operating and maintaining housekeeping equipment Moves and places large quantities of facility equipment and furnishings such as tables and table skirting, chairs, stages, risers, steps, wall panels, coat racks, dance floors and seating platforms and more in support of scheduled events Tears down facility equipment and furnishings and return all items to appropriate locations, ensuring items are clean and operable for future use, and/or reporting any damage to supervisor Operates and maintains housekeeping equipment such as standard and motorized ride-on vacuums, carpet cleaners (spotters), carpet sweepers, auto-scrubbers, pressure cleaners and chemical applicators Provides excellent customer service to patrons Performs other duties as required Education & Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, less than 1 year experience in custodial, general maintenance, labor or related work OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Knowledge of: Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices Uses and properties of supplies and equipment Skill in: Customer service Providing attention to detail in assignments Operating assigned equipment Ability to: Follow directions and meet standards Use cleaning supplies and chemicals in a safe, efficient manner Maintain venue quality and standards for cleanliness ADA and Other Requirements: Work Environment and Physical Effort: Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor environment. Employees may occasionally work in an outdoor environment. Work Exposures: Work in this position does not require frequent environmental exposures. Employees may occasionally be exposed to communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles or toxic, caustic chemicals or substances.
